"2025 has been a year of contrasts and constant adaptation," reports Atlantic Fruit, a partner company of ElbeFruit based in Hamburg that specializes in limes, passion fruit, sweet potatoes, and coconuts. "Our flagship products have experienced very different realities. The drastic shifts are part of the nature of global trade, and our response has been clear: investing time and resources every single day to identify trends, react with agility, and protect value for our international partners."
Atlantic Fruit trades in Europe's most demanding regions: Northern, Central, and Southern Europe, including the UK. "These markets are highly price-sensitive and require quick responses from importers, particularly in the Netherlands, where a strong distribution network plays a decisive role. Today, we are consolidating our market leadership in limes and passionfruit, and once our position in our key distribution areas is fully established, we plan to expand further into new regions."

Price and supply fluctuations greater than in previous years
For them, this year has been "atypical". "Limes remain under pressure from oversupply from Brazil, while passionfruit and sweet potatoes have gone through severe shortages with record-high prices—a situation that has already shifted for passionfruit and is expected to improve soon for sweet potatoes as well. Price and supply fluctuations are more intense than in previous years, requiring greater anticipation and flexibility. In contrast, the coconut market has remained relatively stable, supported by rising production costs at origin and ongoing supply challenges to Europe."
"Our sourcing strategy focuses on working with origins that have strong market recognition and a proven record of consistent quality: limes from Brazil, passionfruit from Colombia, sweet potatoes from Honduras and Egypt, and coconuts from India and the Ivory Coast. Introducing new origins is a long-term process—it's all about building trust with clients through consistent high quality, which is often the biggest challenge for inexperienced exporters in emerging production regions," they continue.

Solid sales growth despite challenges
"Inflation influences consumer behavior, while sea freight complications affect logistics. Both have a direct impact on supply and demand dynamics, but they are far from the only factors shaping our performance," they point out. "Despite these challenges, our sales have maintained solid growth—driven mainly by precise decision-making and strategic commercial planning that allows us to act rather than react."
Atlantic Fruit has recently added physalis and ginger to its assortment through strategic partnerships with highly skilled growers. "We believe there is still significant room for growth within our existing product category while also deepening our expertise in each product we work with."
"Our commitment remains to strengthen the supply and distribution of our core lines, building long-term trust with clients, while introducing new products only when we can guarantee excellence from farm to market," they conclude.
