Average banana prices declined across several key Latin American suppliers in week 41 compared to the previous week, according to official market data.
Colombian bananas averaged £0.96 per kilogram, down from £1.01 the previous week, marking a decrease of £0.04 per kilogram or approximately 4%. Similarly, Costa Rican bananas recorded an average price of £0.94 per kilogram, compared with £0.98 previously, showing a drop of £0.04 per kilogram.
Guatemalan bananas followed the same downward trend, averaging £0.92 per kilogram, down from £0.98 per kilogram the previous week, representing a decline of £0.06 per kilogram. Nicaragua registered the sharpest fall among the listed origins, with prices decreasing from £0.99 to £0.90 per kilogram, a reduction of £0.09 per kilogram.
Overall, the data reflect lower average banana prices from these Central and South American origins compared with the previous reporting period, continuing a pattern of moderate week-on-week declines within the global banana market.
