'La Felsinea' celebrated with customers, suppliers, technicians, friends, and family

10th anniversary for the 'network' specialising in onions

"Networking has allowed us to increase the product available, reduce costs, and provide greater continuity of supply. Just like in a family, we compare and discuss, but always with the utmost respect and with the intention of growing." It was 2015 when three Bolognese entrepreneurs joined forces to create the La Felsinea business network, a specialist in onions.

On the occasion of the tenth anniversary, partners Stefano Orsini, Marco Tugnoli, and Alberto Zambon organised a party at the headquarters in Castel Guelfo. In addition to the owners, several family members did the honours, welcoming customers, suppliers, producers, and technicians in a joyous atmosphere.

"We cultivate almost 50 hectares of onions, and this specialisation has allowed us to be well regarded by customers. Everyone is responsible for what they produce, but we share innovations and agronomic strategies to be adopted from year to year."

This year, La Felsinea harvested around 2500 tonnes of onions. "About 60% is white onions. The remaining 40% is divided between the copper, golden, and red types."

"This year did not start off in the best of ways. Then the situation improved, although it will not be remembered as exceptional. We have high average sizes and good quality. Prices in these first 10 days of October are more or less at the level of those at the end of the last campaign."

Felsinea is a specialist in white onions, a delicate product that not everyone manages to produce with excellent results. This has led them to become a point of reference for such production. "White onions are in great demand, especially abroad. In fact, around 80% of the production is exported to countries such as Germany, Poland, and Eastern Europe. The other types, on the other hand, are sold in Italy."
