In an unprecedented move, Uttar Pradesh has embarked on exporting its renowned Dussehri mangoes directly to Dubai. On Sunday, a total of 1,200 kg, comprising 400 boxes, each containing 3 kg of mangoes, was sent from Lucknow's Mango Pack House to Dubai importer Vergro Trading LLC. The shipment is valued at US$ 2,992.
The dispatch was overseen by Dinesh Pratap Singh, Minister of State for Horticulture, Agricultural Marketing, and Agricultural Foreign Trade. The undertaking aligns with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's objective to enhance farm exports from the region.
Three Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), guided under the Indo-German Agricultural Market Development (AMD) Project, were instrumental in these efforts. Specifically, Irada Farmers Producer Company Limited and Malihabad Farmer Producer Company Limited achieved their initial direct export contracts independently.
According to Minister Singh, "This export shows how our farmers are being empowered. We are committed to supporting them in production, packaging, and meeting international standards." Enhancing Uttar Pradesh's role in the global mango market is a primary aim.
The event, which was attended by Indra Vikram Singh, Secretary of Agriculture and Agricultural Foreign Trade, T.K. Shibu, Special Secretary and Director, along with representatives from CISH Lucknow and the Indo-German Project team, may motivate other farmers and FPOs to explore international markets, promoting recognition for Indian agricultural output.
