Tasmanian fruit growers hold 33rd industry conference

Fruit Growers Tasmania will host its 33rd Industry Conference in Hobart on Thursday, 12 and Friday, 13 June, bringing together growers and supply chain partners to explore the future of the state's fruit sector.

Themed Tasmanian Grown Quality, the conference will feature keynote speaker Rob Pennicott of Pennicott Wilderness Journeys, who is expected to share insights from his business journey and focus on quality.

Fruit Growers Tasmania CEO Peter Cornish said the event is a key opportunity for the industry. "The conference provides a chance for growers and partners to discuss current challenges and future directions. It's the major event in the Tasmanian fruit calendar," he said.

The program includes notable speakers such as Michael Simonetta, CEO of Perfection Fresh, who scaled a small market operation into a global produce company; Joanne Chen, retail CEO of Citistores and Unicorn Stores in Hong Kong, who brings decades of experience in international produce retail; and Adam Blake, CEO of Blundstone Australia, who will share how the Tasmanian company became a global brand.

Growers recognised as leaders in their fields will also present, contributing practical perspectives to the agenda.

Close to 30 local and national exhibitors and sponsors will showcase services and products tailored to Tasmania's fruit growers.

Peter Cornish acknowledged the backing of key supporters. "We couldn't run this event without the support of our major sponsors, including Nutrien Ag Solutions, Visy, Muirs, Hort Innovation, Hobart Airport, and Steritech. Their involvement shows their ongoing commitment to our industry."

Fruit Growers Tasmania President Nic Hansen added, "These conferences are always a valuable opportunity for growers to connect and share their passion for what we do. I'm really looking forward to it."
