Australia's agricultural sector aims to reach $100 billion in value by 2030, with the AgriEmpower Scholarship launched as part of this effort. The program, backed by $400,000 in funding over four years, will provide $20,000 each to 20 selected young professionals aged 25-40. The scholarship is designed to support skill development, knowledge enhancement, and innovative projects within agriculture.
The National Farmers' Federation (NFF) and Woolworths, the scholarship's sponsors, emphasize that the program is open to individuals with diverse backgrounds. Recipients may use the funds for specific projects or to advance their professional capabilities. Scholarship holders will also have access to events and workshops organized by the sponsors, providing networking and learning opportunities.
NFF President David Jochinke stated that the initiative is a step towards achieving the $100 billion agriculture goal by 2030. The program seeks to encourage fresh perspectives and practical solutions for the industry.
Woolworths Retail Managing Director Annette Karantoni highlighted that the partnership aligns with efforts to support the agricultural sector's sustainability and innovation.
Applications for the AgriEmpower Scholarship are now open. Successful candidates will have 18 months to complete their projects or initiatives.
