The Cameroon Banana Association (Assobacam) reported that in April 2025, four banana producers in Cameroon exported 16,830 tons of bananas. This figure represents a marginal decrease of 0.4% compared to the 16,897 tons exported in April 2024.
Assobacam data highlighted export increases for two producers. The state-owned agro-industrial company CDC exported 3,309 tons, marking a 30% year-on-year increase from 2,543 tons in April 2024. Mondoni Banana Company (CDBM), a subsidiary of Compagnie Fruitière de Marseille, exported 1,715 tons, a 42% rise from 1,208 tons in the previous year.
These increases were counterbalanced by a decline in exports from Plantations du Haut Penja (PHP), the leading local market player. PHP exported 11,046 tons in April 2025, down 10.6% from 12,365 tons in April 2024. Boh Plantations Plc, now the smallest market player, exported 760 tons, a 2.7% decrease from 781 tons in April 2024.
Bananas remain a key export for Cameroon, with Europe as the primary destination. According to BKP Economic Advisors, the United Kingdom accounts for 13% of Cameroon's banana exports, generating annual revenue of nearly 10 million euros. The National Institute of Statistics (INS) reported that in 2023, Cameroon exported 42.9 billion CFA francs worth of bananas to G7 countries, including Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
