Brazilian fruit exports to Europe rise via air cargo

Azul Linhas AƩreas has observed a rise in demand for air cargo transport services to Europe, noting this trend as an increasingly viable option. The company's logistics division, Azul Cargo, highlighted its performance in the first quarter of 2025, particularly in the export of Brazilian fruits. Papaya and mango dominate the cargo arriving in Lisbon, accounting for 99% of the volume.

On the Viracopos to Lisbon route, Azul Cargo's air-transported fruit volume increased from 1,130 tons in 2024 to 1,285 tons in 2025, a rise of approximately 14%. This growth is attributed to the expansion of the air network and the acquisition of new customers.

Regarding Paris Airport, the cargo volume from Campinas increased from 350 tons in the early months of 2024 to 361 tons this year, marking a 3.14% growth. This cargo primarily consisted of avocado, fig, lemon, and guava, distributed from Paris to destinations such as Brussels, Amsterdam, and Frankfurt.

Azul's new routes to Madrid and Porto, set to launch in June, will operate from Viracopos airports in Campinas (SP) and Recife (PE). Azul Cargo anticipates that these routes will expand the market and demonstrate that effective logistics for perishable cargo can strengthen the link between Brazilian agribusiness and global consumer markets.

In 2024, Azul exported a total of over 7,865 tons to Europe.
