BayWa appoints new CEO and CFO amid financial restructuring

The Supervisory Board of BayWa AG has appointed Dr. Frank Hiller as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Prof. Dr. Matthias J. Rapp as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective March 1, 2025. Both will join the company's Board of Management as part of an ongoing restructuring process.

Gregor Scheller, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, stated that BayWa is undergoing a major transformation to improve its financial stability and focus on core business areas. He emphasized that the company aims to strengthen its operational structure and long-term profitability.

Scheller noted that Dr. Hiller brings experience in managing companies through challenging periods and has held various leadership roles in different industries. He also highlighted Prof. Dr. Rapp's expertise in financial management and experience in guiding companies through financial restructuring.

Dr. Hiller acknowledged the financial difficulties facing BayWa and stated that the company must address these challenges to regain stability. He emphasized the importance of maintaining BayWa's standing in the agriculture sector and restoring its position in the market.

Prof. Dr. Rapp expressed confidence in the company's ability to recover but noted that the transformation process would require transparency, cooperation, and strategic financial planning.

Dr. Frank Hiller previously served as CEO of Big Dutchman, a supplier of feeding and housing systems, and was CEO of Deutz AG in Cologne for five years. He has also held management positions at Leoni, MAN Truck & Bus, Meiler, and Thyssen-Krupp. He studied mechanical engineering at the University of Kaiserslautern.

Prof. Dr. Matthias J. Rapp was responsible for finance and controlling at TÜV SÜD until 2024. He started his career at Boston Consulting Group and later worked as CFO at several companies, including Webasto. He was appointed an honorary professor at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU) in 2021. He studied business administration at WHU Koblenz.

The appointments come as BayWa seeks to implement structural changes aimed at improving its financial position and operational efficiency.
