Egypt's potato export revenue rises to $409 million in 2024, driving overall export growth

Data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) has highlighted the trajectory of Egyptian potato exports throughout 2024. According to the agency, the revenue generated from these exports reached approximately $409 million in the first 10 months of 2024. This marks an ascent from the $391 million recorded during the same timeframe in 2023, reflecting an uptick of roughly $17 million.

In the broader context of Egypt's export landscape, potatoes constitute a key segment. The total value of these exports was reported at around $4 billion within the initial 10 months of 2024, a climb from the $3 billion noted in the corresponding period of 2023. This increase amounts to nearly $435 million.

The overall performance of Egyptian exports has also seen a noteworthy upswing. CAPMAS data reveals that the total value of the nation's exports surpassed the $4 billion threshold in October 2024 alone, reaching approximately $4.07 billion. This compares favorably to the $3.35 billion registered in October 2023, indicating a substantial rise of over $714 million.

Such figures underscore the dynamic nature of Egypt's export sector, particularly within the realm of agricultural commodities like potatoes, showcasing a positive trend in the country's trade balance.
