The first mangos from Mexico are available

The Peruvian mango season has about four weeks left, but the first mangos from Mexico are already available in the market. "Traditionally, we are the first ones to offer mangos from Mexico," says Rebecca Garcia with Cabefruit. The Cabello Family has been growing mangos for over 50 years and has focused on finetuning the growing process to be the first to hit the market. "Over the years, we've learned the most effective ways to optimize our growing and harvesting techniques, allowing us to start the season earlier and increase our yields. It's a combination of tradition, innovation, and dedication that makes us the first," she said.

Mangos from Mexico are usually available between mid-January and August. For Cabefruit, the season kicks off in Chiapas with the Ataulfo variety, followed by round mangos by mid-February.

Favorable weather
The growing conditions leading up to this harvest have been promising. "We've been very pleased with the growing conditions as the weather has been favorable, with consistent temperatures and adequate rainfall," commented Garcia. "As a result, the mangos have developed beautifully. These ideal conditions set us up for a high-quality crop this season." Retail customers have been asking for Mexico grown mangos since December, something Garcia is very grateful for. "It's rewarding to have eager customers who are excited for that first taste of the season. We are now working with our customers on setting up mango programs for the season."

Cabefruit is expected to significantly increase its mango volume this season. "By carefully managing everything from the soil and climate to harvesting schedules, we're able to meet the growing demand of our customers."

In addition to Mexico, Cabefruit also grows mangos in Ecuador and Peru, allowing the company to provide their customers with mangos year-round. "Our ability to offer a consistent supply across seasons helps us meet customer demand as well as maintain strong relationships."
