A new update to the European tomato dashboard, maintained by the European Commission, indicates mostly decreased prices for December. The exceptions are loose tomatoes in the Netherlands, which are 22% higher than in November, and vine tomatoes in France, where prices are 45% higher.
Compared to the five-year average, prices for cherry tomatoes and loose tomatoes in the Netherlands are 9% and 22% higher, respectively. In Spain, prices for loose, round tomatoes are also 7% higher.
Since the update two weeks ago, prices have been revised slightly upward. Overall, the average kilogram price now stands at €1.62, compared to €1.57 in the previous update.
