Rypen case liner shortlisted for 2025 Fruit Logistica Innovation Awards in technology category

It's Fresh Ltd has announced that its Rypen Case Liner is a finalist in the 2025 Fruit Logistica Innovation Awards in the Technology category.

Initially developed for the table grape industry, the Rypen Case Liner is designed to help reduce bunch weight loss, lower waste levels, and maintain better condition upon arrival. Trials on grapes grown in countries such as South Africa, Chile, and Peru, and shipped to markets including the EU, US, Asia, and the UK over 30+ days, showed approximately 2.6% higher delivered weights due to reduced respiration, up to 85% reduction in defect incidences, and a consistent 30% improvement in rachis scores.

Exporters and growers implementing Rypen technology have reported potential returns on investment of 300-500% relative to the incremental technology cost, with higher returns in markets where greener rachis commands a premium price.

Manufacturing facilities for the Rypen Case Liner are now operational in South Africa and Chile, with distribution agreements in place to support the table grape industry in these countries and Peru. These distribution channels are also available to provide the liner for other fruits with similar needs, such as stone fruit and golden or red kiwis.

Commenting on the shortlisting for the Fruit Logistica Innovation Award, Graham Ellis, CEO of It's Fresh, noted that the Rypen Case Liner addresses a clear industry need by offering a replacement or upgrade to existing case liners, providing measurable benefits for long-range fruit transport.

In addition to the case liner for table grapes, other Rypen formats are available for stone fruit, raspberries, blueberries, avocados, and fresh-cut fruit categories, focusing on ethylene management. Support for these products is provided by teams and distributors based in Chile, Peru, South Africa, Spain, and the UK.

Rypen will be in Hall 5.2, Stand B-24 at Fruit Logistica 2025
