The organic supermarket chain basic belongs to the tegut... family now that the insolvency court has confirmed the insolvency plan and all objection periods have expired.
tegut... Managing Director Thomas Gutberlet is delighted that the next steps towards merging the two companies can finally be taken: "There are a lot of legal issues to be considered and statutory deadlines to be met during such a takeover process, so you have to proceed very carefully and need a little patience until everything is finalized. I am therefore all the happier that we are now at the point where the transition from basic to tegut... is visible to the outside world, especially for customers."
In the coming weeks, tegut... will begin remodeling the stores acquired from basic and rebranding them under the tegut... umbrella brand. basic will then become a supermarket with a focus on organic products, which will retain successful core elements familiar to customers and supplement them with tegut... know-how. For example, the basic pre-checkout bakers will be retained and will continue to operate under the management of the herzberger Bio-Bäckerei, which belongs to tegut.... The service counters will also continue to be run exclusively with organic goods.
basic CEO Christoph Eich sees great potential in this mix of new impulses and tried and tested products: "We can now start to learn from each other, shape the future together and further develop the stores in order to provide customers with an attractive shopping experience in the future. The most important thing, however, is that the basic employees finally have clarity about their future and know they have a reliable new partner at their side in tegut..."
tegut... has taken over 19 locations as well as all of the approximately 500 employees in the basic stores and the headquarters in Munich. Both companies have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
