This Friday (September 29) is the Mid-Autumn Festival. The past two weeks have been the peak period for fruit purchasing, and various festival fruits have had different performances. According to our information, the market performance of durians, Xinjiang plums, and some domestic apples was mediocre last week and the first half of this week, but prices rose two days before the holiday, and sales accelerated. The prices of fruits such as soft-seeded pomegranates and Qiuyue pears are relatively stable, with prices lower than in the same period in previous years.
Imported and domestic apples
The holiday effect is good for apple sales. Many merchants said that sales were smooth and prices increased, but overall they were cheaper than the same period last year. The slight difference is that it is understood that the sales of imported apples were better last week, and the sales slowed down this week, and the initial daily price dropped a day or two before the holiday; while some merchants selling domestic apples said that sales in the past two weeks were not outstanding, but sales accelerated in the two days before the holiday and prices rose.
The price of soft-seeded pomegranates is relatively stable, selling for about ¥40-60/piece, down about 20%-30% from the same period last year. Merchants said that lower prices are conducive to sales. The fruit size of Qiuyue pear is relatively large this season, and many buyers prefer the medium fruit size because it is more in line with consumer demand. However, some high-end supermarkets also said that medium and large fruit sizes are more popular in their stores.

The arrival of Peruvian blueberries has increased since last week and will continue to increase in the second half of this week, with prices gradually falling.
Blueberries with a size of 16mm+ have been sold for approximately ¥145/piece in the past two days, down nearly 10% from a day ago and down about 25% from last week. It is understood that many of the varieties currently arriving have a sour taste, and the price is 30% higher than in the same period in previous years due to the small arrival volume. The taste and price factors affect the sales. Some merchants said that the Pop variety is currently popular due to its sweeter taste, but the arrival volume is small and the price is high.
In terms of avocados, Peruvian avocados are at the end of the season and the arrival volume has been greatly reduced. The price has rebounded to the normal level at the beginning of last week. For example, a product with a low price of ¥40-¥60/piece before is currently about ¥110/piece, and the price this week is slightly lower than last week. It is reported that sales have slowed down after the price increase. According to some merchants, sales are usually smoother when the price is about ¥90-100/piece. In addition, domestically produced avocados have been put on the market in small quantities.

The price of imported durians has increased recently, and sales are better than before. It is understood that last week and the first half of this week, the durian market and sales were relatively stable, but the price began to increase two days before the festival. Currently, the Thai Monthong A6 durian sells for about ¥750-850/box, an increase of about 10%- 15%. According to merchants, Thai durians are currently arriving in small quantities, but their quality and taste are stable, making them popular among buyers. In addition, the sales of Malaysian Musang King durian before the festival are also satisfactory, and the price is relatively stable. Another Southeast Asian fruit, mangosteen, has arrived in large quantities, but the market and sales are not ideal.

Merchants selling various imported fruits said that imported apples and mandarins have been the most popular recently. Although some Australian mandarins have flawed skin, their taste and price have improved. Xinjiang plums also experienced increases and sales accelerated in the two days before the holiday. At present, the price of products packed in plastic frames is about ¥32/kg, and the price of medium-sized ones is about ¥28/kg, which is about 25% higher than before.
