Vegetable prices decreased by 6%, but “vitamin basket” 12% more expensive than last year:

Imports of some vegetables into Kazakhstan significantly exceed exports

The import of aubergines increased by 7.7% to 2.4 thousand tons, but the import of other types of vegetables, such as white cabbage (-60.1%) and table carrots, decreased by 48.2%

In the export of vegetables from Kazakhstan, there is an increase in volumes for potatoes (+13.2 times), aubergines (+3.4 times), carrots (+2.4 times), and other types. However, there is a reduction in exports for tomatoes (-16%), melons (-26.7%), and table beets (-59.9%).

The import of some vegetables significantly exceeds exports; for example, the import of aubergines exceeds exports by almost 37 times, and beets by 21.1 times.

As for retail prices, vegetables became 6.1% cheaper in the monthly dynamics but grew by 12.3% compared to the previous year. In August, cabbage prices increased by 14.3% in a month and by 67.2% in a year, reaching 0,33 EUR per kilogram on average across the country.
