Major roads leading into the Cape Town metropolitan area have been closed due to the heavy flooding, as rain continues with winds of 46km/h on Heritage Day, a public holiday in South Africa.

A humanitarian aid group says it has been inundated by calls for assistance. Alan Winde, the Western Cape Premier, noted this was the second time in three months that the province had experienced widespread flooding and infrastructural damage.
In the Overberg vehicles were washed away; all roads leading to Bredasdorp are closed after the town received over 100mm yesterday.
