Save-A-Lot is the grocer with the best offerings for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) shoppers, according to a new report. Following Save-A-Lot (based in Saint Ann, Missouri) in the rankings is Food 4 Less (Compton, California), Dollar General (Goodlettsville, Tennessee), Winco (Boise, Idaho), and Grocery Outlet (Emeryville, California), according to the report from Chicago-based customer data science company Dunnhumby.

More Hy-Vee stores are in the works for the state of Tennessee, according to reporting from the Murfreesboro Daily News Journal. The first Hy-Vee location is slated to go in Spring Hill, and a local commission recently approved plans for two Hy-Vee stores in an area that has experienced a ton of population growth.

Amazon Fresh expands to 60+ cities in India
Amazon India announced the expansion of Amazon Fresh, its full-basket grocery service, to over 60 cities in the country. The Amazon Fresh app-in-app experience will offer an expanded selection of grocery products, including fruits, vegetables, chilled products, beauty, baby, personal care, and pet products, among other daily grocery needs, the company said in a release.
Aldi Süd becomes the first hard discount retailer to start delivering groceries
From June, Aldi Süd will start a food delivery service in Germany. This is a test, in the region around the city of Mülheim in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, where the discounter’s headquarters are also located. Initially, only employees will be able to order their groceries in the webshop or the app, by the fourth quarter the service will become available to all residents, German trade magazine Lebensmittel Zeitung knows.

Australian supermarket food prices have increased by a new peak of nearly 10% over the past 12 months, outpacing annual inflation as the cost of living continues to rise. Newly published analysis, conducted by investment bank UBS, found prices at Coles and Woolworths had increased by 9.6% over the past 12 months to April.

Swedish online grocer MatHem raises €84.9mln from Kinnevik, Verdane, others
Stockholm-based MatHem, a company that claims to be Sweden’s largest online grocery store and the leading ecommerce company in the grocery trade, announced that it has raised nearly SEK1bln (approx. €84.93mln) in an oversubscribed round. The main shareholders including Kinnevik, Axfood, Verdane, and AMF, have all invested in this funding round. New investors, such as Bonnier Ventures and VNV, also supported this investment.
