Drewry’s all-new Container Freight Portal combines ocean freight procurement and cost benchmarking intelligence

Drewry Supply Chain Advisors, the ocean freight cost benchmarking and procurement support division of Drewry Shipping Consultants, has announced the launch of Drewry Container Freight Portal, a powerful new ocean freight procurement and cost benchmarking resource combining all Drewry’s market-leading ocean freight cost comparison services and indexes in a single, cloud-based platform.

The first group of clients to be migrated to the new portal include members of Drewry’s Benchmarking Club where they will be able to access real-time contract and spot freight rate intelligence as well as procurement resources, best practices and market development insights.

Container Freight Portal brings together the following Drewry ocean freight cost comparison services; Benchmarking Club (S-BMC), Container Freight Rate Insight (CFRI) and Drewry World Container Index (WCI) widely regarding as the bellwether reference for ocean freight rates.

“To be able to now offer all our ocean freight rate intelligence, procurement support resources and market outlook briefings through a single platform is a significant development for our clients,” said Philip Damas, Managing Director of Drewry and Head of Drewry Supply Chain Advisors.

Drewry has structured the new portal as an integrated market and knowledge sharing tool supporting a wider community of over 500 multinationals, enabling logistics professionals to meet Drewry’s team of independent procurement experts and to understand what other BCOs/companies are doing to address hot industry topics such as shorter contracts, decarbonisation industry changes and carrier/forwarder vendor selection.

“Logistics and procurement teams within multinational retailers and manufacturers are under more pressure than ever to demonstrate they are delivering value for money and service excellence to their organisations,” continued Damas. “To meet these demands, access to a comprehensive and holistic suite of cost intelligence and specialist procurement support is needed to give confidence to contracting decisions and the procurement process generally.”

Alongside the contract and spot market freight rate intelligence provided by the portal, members of Drewry’s exclusive shipper-only Benchmarking Club will now have access to enhanced performance insights in areas such as spend analysis, rate forecasts, top areas of potential cost saving, analysis of rates by commencement date and contract duration, assessments of free time and transit times and customisable packages of procurement advisory support.
