Levante Organic Farming opens location at Bremen wholesale market:

"We want to offer high-quality organic products to smaller buyers as well"

Recently, the Bremen wholesale market acquired a new tenant called Levante Organic Farming Ltd. The company can draw on a colorful range of products from 20 hectares of Spanish open ground cultivation and mainly acts as an agency for the parent company of the same name based in La Huerta de Valencia. "Thanks to the central location in Bremen, we can flexibly serve not only customers in Germany from here, but also in neighboring countries such as Scandinavia and the Benelux countries," says Managing Director Hassan El-Hassan.

As a specialized organic wholesaler, Levante Organic Farming mainly serves wholesalers and retailers. "Organic is still too often mistakenly associated with expensive. We would now like to change that by offering organic at affordable prices. It helps us that we can source the majority of our vegetable range directly from our own cultivation," says El-Hassan. The current range includes fennel, celery, spinach, Chinese cabbage, broccoli, romanesco and other cabbage varieties. In spring, Spanish outdoor herbs are also gradually arriving on the market. Especially for our Arab and Turkish customers, we also offer the popular molochia or musk cabbage leaves."

Organic is still trending
Despite the current inflation, El-Hassan says the trend in organic food continues unabated. "Organic fruits and vegetables are extremely trendy, especially in the major northern German cities of Bremen and Hamburg." He observes that organic is gaining in importance, especially in traditional wholesale. "It is therefore very important to us to also serve the smaller customer, such as the specialist retailer, with high-quality organic products. In this respect, it is particularly important that organic finds its place at the wholesale market."

Although the Bremen wholesale market already has an organic wholesaler in Naturkost Kontor, there is no question of competition, El-Hassan continues. "We see ourselves as partners and exchange information with each other. By the way, this also applies to the other suppliers at the local wholesale market. Our strategy now is to find partners at the other wholesale markets as well, so that we can enrich the product variety there with our products as well."
