AlmondCo completes multi-million-dollar expansion

One of Australia's major almond processors has completed a multi-million-dollar expansion to cater to the growing almond market and support its member-owned cooperative operation. The expansion is expected to create 25 new jobs and help the co-op process 50,000 tons of almonds by 2025. AlmondCo is using new machinery from Spain to explore value-adding products and use the entirety of the almond product. This comes as member-owned businesses are seeing a resurgence of interest as an agribusiness model in Australia.

AlmondCo is one of about 1,700 cooperatives across the country and while it accounts for a majority of Australian almond exports, it is comprised of smaller stakeholders.
