HDC Lamotte welcomes the Vitalis group as a shareholder

“Our objective is to have a range of products available all year round”

HDC Lamotte has welcomed the Vitalis group as a shareholder, which represents a new lever of development for the French producer-shipper and leader on the delicacy potato market of the Drôme department.

The Vitalis Group is now represented in the shareholding structure of SAS HDC Lamotte after acquiring a minority stake / Christophe Lamotte

HDC Lamotte is recognized for the production of Linzer Délikatess potatoes and the marketing of the brand ‘Délicatesse de la Drôme’. For several years, the company has relied on its commercial complementarity with the Vitalis network. A close relationship has now been established for more than 5 years between Christophe Lamotte and Benoit Bateman, co-director of Vitalis. Each shares their know-how and their approach to the development of certain specific segments for small potatoes.

“This sharing of experience, the common values around the promotion of exceptional regions such as Drôme des Collines, and the opportunity to work with small potatoes all year round, require a human and material investment that is equal to the challenges. For the Vitalis network, this acquisition is part of a strategy of commitment and rapprochement with the world of production. It also allows the group to continue its geographical coverage of the main production areas of France.”

“We specialize in firm flesh potatoes of small caliber. Our core business is the Délicatesse de la Drôme, a potato that is marketed from April to December. Merging with the Vitalis group will allow us to develop a complete range of small caliber potatoes that will be available all year round,” explains Christophe Lamotte.

HDC Lamotte is located in Bren (Drôme) and represents:

• more than 10,000 tons of fruit and vegetables packed and marketed in 2022. Apricots 3,300 tons, squash 3,500 tons, potatoes 2,100 tons, other vegetables 1,000 tons, pears 100 tons, potential 500 tons,

• 50 permanent employees,

• a recent station of 8,500 m²,

• a revenue of 15 million € [16.1 million USD],

• a farm of 165 ha located in Drôme des Collines and growing 30 ha of apricot trees, 10 ha of pear trees, 85 ha of potatoes, 20 ha of squash and 20 ha of various other vegetables.
