Kimchi vending machine on station platform near Tokyo is a great success

A vending machine selling kimchi on a train platform here has been a huge success since it was placed there in July 2021. The nationally rare vending machine has been installed next to the manned store "Otsukemono-kei" operated by Green Foods Atsumi Ltd., on the platform for trains bound in the direction of Yokohama at Keikyu Corp.'s Kawasaki Station in the city of Kawasaki. Customers can purchase kimchi throughout the day.

Products such as a three-set tester kit, which contains kimchi of Chinese cabbage, daikon radish and turnip, priced at 1,200 yen (about $9), are sold in jars designed to prevent smells and leaks.
