The International Trade Fair of Plant Production Techniques ended on Thursday, January 19. Each year, the event is highly anticipated by professionals in the fruit, vegetable, wine, and seed sectors. This 36th edition of SIVAL welcomed 26,000 visitors, 700 exhibitors (including 15% of international exhibitors), more than 80 thematic conferences, 155 experts, 36,000 m² of gross exhibition space, and 20,000 m² of stand space. Three days of exchanges, meetings, and innovations for an event that attracted visitors and exhibitors from France and abroad.

This year, SIVAL made a real comeback after a 2022 edition that had to be postponed to March due to the Covid pandemic, which had prevented many professionals from attending. This edition was a success from the start. Attendance reached its peak on the second day, and unfortunately, the national transport strike strongly impacted the 3rd and last day of the event, as many professionals preferred to leave early. Attendance varied greatly depending on the halls, with a lot of visitors in Hall B. Overall, both exhibitors and visitors were satisfied with this 36th edition, from the general festive atmosphere to the quality of the exchanges throughout the three days.

Among the highlights of SIVAL were the innovations! This edition was indeed rich in novelties, such as the yellow kiwi Haegeum developed by Sofruileg, the Sunions® onions that do not make you cry created by BASF Vegetable Seeds (Nunhems France), the new variety of green Canopy apples resistant to scab developed by the IFO program of Dalival, the Byzance potato resistant to diseases, the CleanLeaf® eggplant of Rijk Zwaan France and finally, the flat ribbed Roujande tomato of De Ruiter/Bayer.

SIVAL was also the opportunity for French minister of agriculture Marc Fesneau to meet with the professionals who were hit hard by the successive crises (weather, inflation…).
