EU 2022/23 production forecasts lower for apples, oranges, tomatoes, peaches and nectarines

The short term statistical outlook and forecasts for EU production and consumption of apples, oranges, tomatoes, peaches and nectarines are all lower.

A -2.3% reduction in EU apple production for fresh consumption  is expected between 2022/23 and 2021/22. 

EU fresh apple export reduction -3.2% At the start of July 2022, when the report was compiled stocks of fresh apples were -22.9% lower between 2022/23 and 2021/22.  

Total production of oranges will reduce by -12.1% with fresh oranges reducing by -9.5% and consumption also reduced by -5.6%. Imports are expected to increase by 20.3% and the export of fresh oranges to reduce by -12.5% between 2022/23 and 2021/22.  

Peaches and nectarines will see a -6.8% total reduction while the fresh production for Italy and France is forecasted to be -22.9 lower than the 5 year average.

Tomatoes is expected to have a total production of -11.6% less with fresh production -9.5% lower and consumption likely to be -7.1% less.
