African markets are becoming increasingly attractive to Egyptian producers

Egyptian producers are increasingly turning their attention to African markets, in the context of a shifting of international destinations for Egyptian fresh produce. This is the case of the vegetable producer Agropro.

The grower exports to Europe and the Middle East, and wants to enter sub-Saharan markets. Mr. Mohamed Shahen, CEO of Agropro, said: "We want to export our products where they are most valued. We take to heart the mission to contribute to food security in our region. That is why we want to enter neighboring countries in the Arab Gulf and sub-Saharan Africa."

The company produces various vegetables for everyday consumption, such as tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, broccoli, sweet and hot peppers, etc., with an annual volume of 4000 tons. Mr. Mohamed describes his activities: "Having invested in equipment and greenhouses, we can produce all year round regardless of the weather conditions. Thus, we can guarantee a stable production".

In terms of price, Mr. Mohamed expects to keep a stable price compared to the last seasons: "We have good control of our costs and can continue to offer our products at a reasonable price to the final consumers."

The company currently exports to Italy, Germany and Kuwait, and offers its products to international markets through the Egyptian contractor Mozare3.
