New digital platform emerges

"The idea is to allow producers to give visibility to their products while helping them save time"

Two years ago, Alban and Arthur - two cousins, sons of producers - decided to join forces in order to help farmers sell their fruit and vegetables at the most fair price, while guaranteeing quality, freshness, responsiveness and flexibility to their clients. This is how the digital platform Althur & Co was created.

“B2B marketplace” for organic and conventional products
Today, the tool brings together more than 150 French producers who offer organic and conventional products. “Initially, the project was built around organic products sold under the brand ‘Hall in bio’, as both of the co-founders were from the organic sector. They later decided to expand their offer with conventional fruit and vegetables in order to meet the high demand from producers and consumers.

Producers gain time and visibility
Ten people currently work daily to present a varied clientele with a personalized offer that complies with specifications and comes from everywhere in France. “The idea is actually to allow producers to give visibility to their products while helping them save time. Having a diversified clientele also helps multiply the requests regarding the products, therefore increasing the producers’ chances to sell their entire range, from the high-end merchandise to downgraded products.”

More flexibility and freshness for the clients
As for the clients (wholesalers, mass retailers or specialized networks), Althur & Co allows them to access a wide range of French products in real time. “We have nothing in stock which allows us to offer products of optimal freshness and to adapt to each client’s preferences. We personalize the offer according to the needs at any level: from the truck, to the pallet or the mixed shipments.”

Additionally, thanks to a presence in several production basins, we also guarantee reliability in their supply chain, even in case of weather hazards. To do this, we plan with our partner producers which makes it possible to set up a volume and price program.

Our platform adapts the supply to the geographical location, an interesting service for the clients who want to develop their local offer.”

Always looking for new partnerships
Althur & Co prefers to stabilize its client portfolio than to expand it. “We have grown a lot in just two years. Since we really want to do things right, we want to focus on the quality of our services rather than increase our number of clients at any cost. We are interested in long-term partnerships. We already have a range of 80 varieties of fruit and 100 varieties of vegetables, with 2,500 tons sold in 2021. However, we still have the ambition to create new partnerships in order to continue to secure the offer for our clients.”

A company that wishes to remain independent
“So far, the company has already experienced a nice evolution and we do not wish to grow too fast. Our goal is not to attract shareholders or to raise funds. We navigate alone and we want to keep our independence to guarantee the best quality of service, in line with our values.”
