The growth in shipments reported in the first 9 months of 2022 follows the trend that was recorded in 2021, when, according to the latest report of the CIEN-ADEX Center for Research on Global Economics and Business, they amounted to 1,220.2 million dollars, increasing by 21.3% over the previous year.

Fresh blueberry shipments accounted for 97.1% of all shipments. They experienced a 20.5% increase and amounted to 1,185.4 million dollars. Conventional blueberries accounted for 95.9% of all fresh fruit exports, totaling $1,137.3 million, while exports of organic fresh blueberries totaled 48.1 million and a 4.1% share.

Frozen blueberry shipments accounted for 2.8% of the total, but recorded a 59.9% year-on-year increase totaling $34.5 million.

Between 2017 and 2021, Peruvian blueberry exports increased by an annual average of 34.7%, mainly due to the increase in exports of frozen blueberries (+140.8%), the report stated.

In contrast, exports of blueberry juice and dehydrated blueberries, which had a share of 0.02% and 0.004% respectively, showed a negative performance in 2021, registering a 43.2% and 7.4% fall in shipments, respectively, over 2020.
