Nigel Jenney: UK's FPC

“We need a new approach to save our nation’s food supply”

Nigel Jenney, the Chief Executive of the Fresh Produce Consortium (FPC) has voiced his concerns regarding the safeguarding of the UK’s fresh produce and horticultural sectors saying: “We need a new approach to save our nation’s food supply,”

He says the UK Government's should ensure the safe and affordable food for hard-pressed consumers in that country. “The integration of both the domestic and international fresh produce and horticultural sectors are fundamental to feeding the nation,” explained Jenney.

He says producers must be adequately rewarded for their efforts of producing fresh produce while the inputs costs such as gas, fertilisers and transport is increasing. The government must also put in place policies that will bring more labourers to help out with the harvests otherwise huge food inflation will occur stated Jenney.

This is why the FPC has two events, the FPC Future and Careers to support the industry and help secure the country's food supply says Jenney.

It will take place on 16 March 2023 at the East of England Arena and Events Centre, Peterborough. Register online for free to both events on the day.
