The first meeting of the joint working group of the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of Egypt has been recently held, Dunyo news agency reports.
The parties discussed issues related to trade in agricultural products, plant quarantine, veterinary medicine, cotton growing, seed production, and scientific research in this area.
The Egyptian party reported that the process of opening the market for grapes and cherries from Uzbekistan has been completed. Officials noted that the technical data of 5 products, namely pomegranate, apple, plum, apricot, and nectarine, are being considered, and a corresponding permit will be issued in the coming days.
It was emphasized that Uzbek and Egyptian specialists have extensive experience in such areas as cotton growing, seed growing, and veterinary medicine. It was noted that establishing the exchange of knowledge and experience, and conducting research and developments will serve the interests of the two states.
In addition, the National Center for Knowledge and Innovation in Agriculture of Uzbekistan and the Agricultural Research Center of Egypt agreed to establish and expand cooperation, arrange joint training, courses, conferences, and forums.
The parties also reached an agreement on organizing mutual visits, getting acquainted with the conditions and opportunities created in the agriculture of the two countries, as well as conducting joint research in other areas of mutual interest.
