Cosmic Crisp promo married apples and caramel

To celebrate National Caramel Apple Month and the start of fall baking, Cosmic Crisp® brand apples, Werther’s Originals Caramel and Nordic Ware served consumers with a “Sweeter Together” promotion, which wrapped up this week. The combination of these brands proved to be a winning recipe for a successful giveaway with more than 243,000 entries collected and 24,000 subscribers to each company’s email newsletters. Paid social media reached over 400,000 consumers. In addition to the online promotion, Cosmic Crisp and Werther’s Originals ran a print advertisement in the October issue of Country Living Magazine and a targeted sampling program with Walmart.

Three winners of the promotion will receive a prize pack with Nordic Ware bakeware, Werther’s Originals caramels, Cosmic Crisp charcuterie paper and a grocery gift card to purchase the apples.

“We are delighted with the success of the Sweeter Together promotion and developing a partnership with both of these brands,” said Kathryn Grandy, chief marketing officer for Proprietary Variety Management, the company marketing the Cosmic Crisp brand apple. “These brands pair perfectly with the apple from both a content and community standpoint. We look forward to developing additional marketing opportunities in the future.”

Three lucky winners of the promotion will receive a prize pack with Nordic Ware bakeware, Werther’s Originals caramels, Cosmic Crisp charcuterie paper and a grocery gift card to purchase the apples.

Developed over 20 years through classic breeding at Washington State University’s tree fruit program, this apple has earned a loyal consumer base and international notoriety. A brand awareness study done with Nielsen Category Partners earlier this year demonstrated that the apple has reached 27 percent national brand awareness--the apple has only been available at retail for 14 months of its three years on the market. 2022’s crop is going to be the brand’s biggest yet with a projected 5 million boxes shipping from Washington State on December 1st.
