Brazilian melon exports increased over 60% in October

Brazilian melon exports went up in October. According to the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex), the volume shipped last month reached 35,000 tons, a 63% increase over September but a 23% decrease over October 2021.

The increase from one month to the next was expected as the harvest is advancing in important producing states like Rio Grande do Norte and Ceará. However, the lower yield quality compared to last year is explained by logistics problems, such as high sea freight – which limits the exporter’s profitability – the need for more containers, and the poor quality of port services.
