Huge arrivals of apples on the Hyderabad markets from Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh have led to plummeting prices.
With up to 25 trucks per day arriving loaded with 1 000 boxes each, the oversupply is driving prices down sharply. The price per box is up to Rs 400 ($4.89) per box less compared to last year.
Traders on the market expect the local supply and lower prices to continue for a couple of days more. They say consumers will receive the benefit of lower apple prices until December.
