Sweden switches to European citrus after Southern Hemisphere supply ends

Importers, retail and wholesale in Sweden are switching to citrus supplies from the European countries of Spain and Italy after supply from the Southern Hemisphere, South Africa in particular, has ended this week.

The Swedish importers and distributors Ewerman AB and TrĂ€dgĂ„rdshallen Stockholm in their monthly update said oranges and  clementines from Spain have started up. Eco oranges also come from Spain, while they offer persimmon's from Spain, in what they call "the stable season with fruit that lasts longer." Table grapes and mangoes, of the Kent variety, are available from Brazil and Peru.

On the vegetable side Swedish cauliflower is available for a few more weeks, weather dependent. The first winter cucumber is available from a local supplier, while eco cucumbers see a poor supply and high prices from Spain. White cabbage comes from Spain who will continue to supply for a few more weeks. Main salad from Sweden will finish this week when they will then switch to Dutch origin. Pepper supply is slowly moving over to the Spanish season.

Eco grapefruit from Italy will start in week 47, while eco clementines are in stock from Italy. Eco tomatoes with low prices from the Netherlands and Spain are also available. The Dutch season will be over in about 10 days time. Eco cauliflower is in the last week from the Netherlands, with a shift to Italy from next week 47.
