Japan apple and pears look to exports for growth

The Japanese government is looking to export markets, for the apple and pear industry in particular, as domestic consumption is set to decrease with a declining population.

The country is aiming to expand their annual agriculture exports to to ¥5 trillion in 2030. India opened for Japan apples in March this year where they are set to increase the current 30 000 tons of Aomori apples exports.

The Yamagata Prefecture in Japan, known for producing about 1 700 tons La France pears, are looking to expand exports to East Asia.
