At the expo in Karlsruhe, Germany, on 23-24 November, the Italy-based machine manufacturer Bagioni will present some novelties, including a battery-powered machine that makes harvesting different types of vegetables easier.
"Many small-scale growers have several types of vegetables on their plots. For those small quantities, they cannot bring in a different harvesting machine for each crop," explained owner Aurenzo Bagioni.
"We will showcase a basic device that is powered by a small lithium battery and has a range of 1 km. We offer it at the affordable price of €1,860."
"This basic model can be supplemented at a low cost with various accessories for harvesting almost all vegetables. The conversion is made in a few minutes for harvesting the next type of vegetable. The drawing shows some examples of possible machine designs, but the system also allows the grower to design their own model."
Arches made of resin for asparagus tunnels
"On the occasion of the asparagus fair in Karlsruhe, our company will be presenting new arches made of resin to cover asparagus. After a ten-year search for a flexible arch that is easy to place on the ground and offered at an interesting price, we achieved some encouraging results last year," said Bagioni.
The modification of some chemical components in the arch ensures that it remains flexible in two directions and does not break when the tunnels undulate during strong winds.
"In 2022 we covered two rows of green asparagus at a crop farm in the province of Ferrara and at the end of the season no arches had broken. During the expo, we will provide 50 arches free of charge for each interested customer to try for the next season. We ask in return to be informed about the performance and longevity of the new bows, in order to then be ready for large-scale production in the 2024 season."
