B2A celebrates at Interpoma, Hall AB - Stand A03/18

Ten years of activity: study and research are never lacking

Last October, the Trento-based B2A celebrated its tenth anniversary. Barbara Doria, partner and head of administration and marketing, tells how the company has grown despite the last few difficult years, due to pandemics and wars, events that have inevitably also affected the industry.

"Despite the hard times due to price increases and unavailability of materials, we adapt to the new circumstances. We are a structured and competent company for automation and software development in the industrial environment: we design, develop and implement tailor-made solutions for production and logistics systems for the food industry."

B2A will be exhibiting at Interpoma (Bolzano, 17-19 November 2022), in Hall AB - Stand A03/18. "The intention is to celebrate ten years with our customers and visitors. Our company was founded on 12 October 2012 and has grown over the years to become the most important partner for the industrial sector. We started with the B-Trace software that guarantees traceability in fruit and vegetable warehouses and with automatic labelling systems; gradually we have expanded the industrial automation department guaranteeing greater productivity, better working conditions, and higher product quality," Doria says.

"This allowed B2A to become so established in the market that we were able to grow during the pandemic crisis. To celebrate this development, we have invested in research, rebranding, and have broadened the scope of our operations: there will no longer be exclusivity for fruit and vegetable warehouses, as demonstrated by the recent acquisition of the client Ferrari F.lli Lunelli."

With a view to supporting the customer towards constant growth and optimisation of production processes, B2A integrates further 'tailor-made' solutions into its offer, ranging from: machines designed specifically for the individual need; robot islands with anthropomorphic robots, Scara (Selective compliance assembly/articulated robot arm) and parallel robots; systems with collaborative robots, i.e. able to work in the presence of people; autonomous guided vehicles that move goods within the factory; RTLS localisation systems for forklift trucks that allow the 3D localisation of goods.

"Our company is a reference partner capable of centralising and coordinating all stages of the entire production process. We simplify and speed up the achievement of objectives," Doria comments.

The know-how of the specialists who make up the B2A team applies skills that exploit the latest developments in information technology such as augmented reality (AR), artificial intelligence (AI) and the algorithms behind autonomous driving vehicles. "B2A is the component that transforms machines from standard to 4.0," Doria emphasises.

Focus on robotics
"We develop solutions to allow companies to automate and speed up manual and repetitive work. We are working on projects using robots capable of handling, picking and placing boxes, cups, caps: any material, weight and size (from the paper cup to the large box), in total autonomy".

"So far the results are more than positive, especially considering the shortage of manpower. We note the interest in robotics especially for jobs that are considered repetitive and/or dangerous," Doria underlines. "There have been many requests for customised solutions for collaborative and anthropomorphic robots that can move autonomously and increase efficiency and productivity levels in large distribution companies. This growth is motivated by the many benefits that can be brought to the world of manufacturing'.

Pandemic, period of study and research
Over the past 10 years, the company has overcome many challenges. "The toughest one? The lockdown period related to Covid-19 for sure. None of our employees were laid off, but they all worked in smart working. We took advantage of the lockdown imposed by the pandemic to develop new projects and research,' Doria concludes.
