Hong Kong table grape imports fall, Shine Muscat grapes still popular

The highly priced Shine Muscat table grapes, selling between HK$ 100 ($12.7) and up to HK$ 500 ($63) remain ever popular in Hong Kong with Japan, South Korea and China the top suppliers.

According to Euromonitor data Hong Kong imports of this expensive grape increased every year between 2017 to 2020, but decreased by 16.6% in 2021. The volume of fresh grapes imported to Hong Kong decreased from 240 798 tons in 2020 to 192 011 tons in 2021.

Shine Muscat grapes from South Korea and China have increased over the same period challenging the higher Japanese prices and quality.
