Peru exported 45,293,546 kilos of table grapes in October, the first month of the country's 2022/23 table grape campaign, i.e. 29.67% more than in the same month of 2021.
"It's a dizzying start to the campaign, as the grape from Piura (which is the main actor in these months because ICA's offer begins in December) has exploded," stated the president of the consultancy Inform@cción, Fernando Cilloniz Benavides.
In the 2021/22 campaign, Peru was the main world exporter of table grapes in terms of value. In this campaign the country will be the world's main exporter of table grapes in volume, surpassing Chile, which enjoyed this position for many years, Cilloniz stressed.
The Association of Table Grape Producers of Peru (Provid) projects Peru will export 71.5 million boxes of table grapes in the 2022/2023 campaign, i.e. 11% more than in the previous campaign.
