The International Agroferomonas and Biological Control Days are celebrating their fifth edition. The latest advances in the sector will be presented in this year's event, especially those related to technological tools for pest control. The event will be held on November 16 and 17 at the El Batel Auditorium in Cartagena.
The first day will kick off with a conference by Owen Jones from Lisk & Jones Consultants Ltd (UK), who will talk about the current use and design of pheromones, biological control, and other alternative tools in agriculture of the future. The first block of the event will be dedicated to horticultural crops, trying to integrate different pest control and biological control of phytoparasitic nematodes techniques in greenhouses or on selected breeds of natural enemies. A technological tool for the control of the sweet cucumber mosaic virus and the use of the biostimulant Bacillus atrophaeus ABI 05 will also be discussed in this block.
The second block will be dedicated to forestry and extensive crops, biological control of chestnut wasps, pests, and forest diseases, the efficient use of pheromones in extensive crops, or the control of borers in sugar cane.
The third block of the event will take place in the afternoon, and it will be dedicated to woody crops. The topics to be analyzed will be those related to how to create a micro-insecticide, biological control in emerging diseases, pheromone traps for Delottococcus aberiae and sustainable pest management in citrus, sexual confusion by automatic aerosols against Prays oleae, as well as against Cryptoblabbes gnidiella and Lobesia botrana in vineyards, and the use of pheromones against mealybugs.
The first block of the second day of the event will also be devoted to woody crops. The topics that will be addressed are the management of biodiversity for the biological control of pests in pear orchards, new tools for the control of Halyomorpha halys and Nezara viridula, and vector insects of emerging diseases. The next block will be dedicated to legislation and registration, registering semi-chemicals, non-insecticides, and other control tools in the EU in comparison to other countries.
The last thematic block will be devoted to new technologies, such as the implementation of ecological infrastructures for biological control, volatile plants, the new Push-Pull technique for pest control, benefits of the Semios platform, and the development of innovative multimodal systems for monitoring and control of agricultural pests.
The International Agroferomonas and Biological Control Days are the international reference event in pheromones, biological control, and other technological tools for pest control.
