Sentek will be present at Eima - Italy

Some possible solutions for saving water, energy and purposeful irrigation

"Irrigation nowadays must be carried out mindfully. Relying on chance or established experience is no longer enough," said Paolo Antini, representative in Italy for Sentek, which will be attending the next edition of Eima (9-13 November 2022) with a booth (hall 37 stand A40).

"At our stand at Eima, we will be showing all the solutions to irrigate while saving water, energy, and yet at the same time improving yields and quality. You will be able to touch multi-level sensors and see how the software for irrigation management operates," continued Antini.

It is possible to influence the quality of a product through irrigation. "Through the technique of water stress management, it is possible to influence, for instance, the concentration of sugars or increase the percentage of polyphenols," he continued. It's all about knowing the circumstances and having the right technologies to modify irrigation responsively."

Sentek is a partner of Galcon, an international company specialized in the sector. There will also be Winet at the fair booth, which is a company that has a strong partnership with Sentek.

Antini pointed out that "using an easy-to-install, conical multilevel sensor, one can measure soil moisture every 10 centimeters, with data rendered user-friendly by a software program. The right amount of water to be supplied is the amount that remains in the root zone of the plant. Thanks to the sensor, you are able to see how deep the active roots are."

"Continuous monitoring makes it possible to irrigate whenever there is a need to water the soil to the level of depth the plant really needs, avoiding waste. With these sensors and software, we are able to save 20 to 50 percent in energy and water, depending on the crop," he concluded.
