Anthony Oboussier, EARL Les Chambres:

France: a white peach orchard entirely dedicated to processing into fruit puree

Three of the 20 hectares of stone fruit cultivated by EARL Les Chambres are dedicated to a very specific usage. “The entire production of this orchard of Bellerime white peaches is sold to a single client located 3km away from the farm,” explains Anthony Oboussier, stone fruit producer in the Drôme department.

“When Vergers Boiron asked me to work with them, they were looking for local producers who could supply them each year with fruit to be processed into fruit puree.” So Vergers Boiron financed the installation of the orchards (plantation, hail protection nets, irrigation system), and the producer agreed to sell the entire production of these three hectares of white peaches to Vergers Boiron for 15 years.

A contract defined as a “win-win” between the producer and the processing client. “Everyone benefits from it. I was able to increase my production area without having to make any investment since everything was financed by Vergers Boiron. But I also have the guarantee, regardless of the season, that I will be able to sell part of my production for at least 15 years. As for Vergers Boiron, they also have guaranteed volumes each year and do not depend on production variations between the seasons. This system also provides them with an excellent quality of fruit since they get to process the entire volume of the orchard.”

At the end of this 15-year contract, Anthony Oboussier will be free to decide if he wishes to continue to sell the production of these 3 hectares of peaches to Vergers Boiron.
