Rocco De Lucia - Siropack

"We are already at war"

"The one taking place in Italy at the moment is not an outright war, but rather a silent war whose victims are businesses," reports Rocco De Lucia from packaging company Siropack.

"Day after day, we remain speechless when faced with the terrible management of the energy crisis by European politics, while more and more companies are enduring extensive damage due to the increase in energy costs. It has become clear how all the 'missiles' we announced last March are actually hitting citizens and businesses on the European territory."

Rocco De Lucia

"Despite those who, like former Prime Minister Draghi, announced a war economy six months ago, European politics has not managed - throughout the summer period and despite the continuation of the conflict between Russia and the Ukraine - to put in place the minimum countermoves required to safeguard its companies."

Months ago, the owner of Siropack had already talked about the fact that Russia was no longer paying for patents.

The statements by the President of the EU Commission Von der Leyen concerning the capping of gas prices "make us feel defenseless due to the lack of foresight shown by those institutions that, despite the worrying situation between Russia and the Ukraine, have not managed to find effective solutions and have actually kept from citizens a sad yet undeniable truth - war has reached Europe."

"We are not talking about military action, but rather about an economic and energy conflict which, should politicians fail to implement the necessary countermeasures, will soon cause numerous victims: our businesses, the driving force not only of the Italian system, but of the whole of Europe. We therefore stress once again our deep disappointment for the situation Italy is finding itself in."
