Brazil expanding presence at 2022 Fruit Attraction

As one of the world leaders in fresh produce production and exports, Brazil is expanding its presence at this year’s Fruit Attraction taking place early next month in Madrid, Spain.

“Abrafrutas will be present in Fruit Attraction with a booth of 256 square meters and around 35 exporters. It is one of the most important events for the sector and Abrafrutas has been present since 2015,” says Jorge de Souza, technical and project manager at the Brazilian Fruit Growers and Exporters Association (ABRAFRUTAS)

Producers and exporters from South America highlight the importance of their food safety and showcasing how they meet the sustainability requirements of European markets. “Abrafrutas is always promoting the Brazilian fruits in Europe looking to attend to our customers with top quality fruits, respecting the demand for food safety and sustainability requirements,” states de Souza.

Gideao Guilherme, CEO and Sales Manager of packers and exporting company Fresh Quality in Brazil, says attending Fruit Attraction is absolutely essential for their business and growers. “From our last experiences at the trade show we have noticed a higher impact in the products that are not fruits, literally, such as sweet potatoes and ginger. We are also aiming to develop a market for vegetables at this fair such as leeks, okra, roots and others. In a long term view, it is a win-win relationship. This year we’ve noticed that there has been an increase in Spanish companies looking for new products to import.”

“Fresh Quality is looking for new business relationships in the European market to increase the volume delivered in high quality with a good range of products, being near Brazil's Guarulhos airport and Santos port, the main places of departures makes logistics competitive. Also, we are currently stimulating our suppliers to get certifications such as GlobalGap,” concludes Guilherme.
