Which countries have experienced the greatest increase in fruit and vegetable prices in 2022?

Picodi.com analysts have drawn up a ranking of the countries where the average price of the most popular fruits and vegetables increased the most in 2022. The list includes potato, tomato, onion, lettuce, orange, banana, and apple prices in a total of 94 countries.

Ninety-four countries were included in this ranking, which was led by Türkiye, the country in which the prices of these products increased the most. In Türkiye, the price of the fruits and vegetables analyzed increased by 72.2% in the last seven months. Tomato prices increased the most, rising by 121%.

Belarus and Russia ranked second and third with a 33.4% and 27.3% increase in these products, respectively. In Belarus, tomato prices experienced the biggest increase (+52%), and in Russia, the increase was led by potato prices (+45%).

Meanwhile, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, and Bolivia were the countries where the prices of these fruits and vegetables fell the most, namely 5%, 5%, and 8%, respectively. However, in Ecuador and the Dominican Republic, lettuce has become more expensive.

Apple prices increased the most in Andorra (+82%), banana prices experienced the highest rise in Belarus (+48%), and orange (+50.5%), tomato (+122%), onion (+73%), potato and lettuce (+84% each) prices increased the most in Türkiye.
