Highest price increase for table potatoes since August 2019

Producer prices of agricultural products were 16.3% higher in October 2021 than in October 2020. Compared with September 2021, prices rose by 2.8%. Table potatoes also became more expensive once again. In October 2021, prices rose by 43.5% compared with October 2020, according to Federal Statistical Office reports.

This is the highest price increase since August 2019, which was mainly due to weather-related low yields. In September 2021, the year-on-year change was already +35.5%. In the period from September 2019 to July 2021, prices had still been consistently declining year-on-year.
