Coöperatie Hoogstraten has surpassed the amount of 30 million kilograms of strawberries. Supply will be close to 32 million kilos by the end of the year and 2017 will go on record as an averagely good year, both for production and in pricing, Hoogstraten says.

Increased production
The increased strawberry production is the result of a number of decisions made over several years: cooperation with CLTV Zundert, the sales technique for which the clock is central, and transparent pricing coupled with a strong awareness of quality and the familial character of a management that supports this quality awareness. For some years now, Hoogstraten has also been a year-round supplier of strawberries due to illuminated production from Sonata. In the coming winter period, Sonata production will also result in year-round availability of strawberries.
Export
Besides increasing domestic sales, the majority of Hoogstraten strawberries — about 65 per cent — are still exported. Hoogstraten strawberries have been sold in large numbers in Scandinavia for some years now. But France, with its wholesale markets and large supermarkets, is also a major buyer with 20 per cent. In the meantime, export to the UK is increasing during autumn, and there’s cautious interest from Germany. Sales in Belgium are also important. Year after year, Hoogstraten tries to increase local sales by having a well-founded promotion and communication campaign, according to Hoogstraten.
