CO2 reduction of 35% in 5 years

Lean & Green Star Award for Kloosterboer

On Wednesday 16 November logistics service provider Kloosterboer, accepted the Lean & Green Star award. The award was given for the achieved result of a CO2 reduction of 35% over 5 years.

Connekt, the official organisation of the Lean & Green programme, presents the award to companies that have achieved a reduction of 20% in 5 years time. In the case of Kloosterboer, energy saving measures such as energy saving cooling installations and battery chargers and the installation of a wind turbine to meet their own energy needs, resulted in a reduction of 35%. Five years ago Kloosterboer was the first cold storage company to receive the Lean & Green Award.

“Achieving the Lean & Green Star award is a further milestone in the sustainable policy of Kloosterboer. We are proud of the result and we will keep on developing ourselves with regard to the people-planet-profit factors. We will try to achieve this by installing wind turbines, solar panels and new cold stores or extensions built according to BREAAM requirements. We also consider it to be important to actively involve our employees in the sustainability policy of our company”, according to Hans Kroes, CEO Kloosterboer.
