F.lli Torti S.r.l, specialising in the processing and commercialisation of potatoes and onions, is happy to announce that the new "Patata Lombarda" brand will be available as of 14th November 2016.
This new product range was developed in partnership with a leading retailer and will make its debut in 1.5 kg vertbags.
"Our aim is to promote produce that is made in Italy, local productions in particular. These potatoes come from the Pavia province south of the Po river."
This area has 150 hectares dedicated to potato production and, together with neighbouring areas, it represents one of the main procurement areas for the company.
Only high-quality potatoes grown by qualified producers in accordance with sustainable integrated cultivation guidelines will be sold under the brand.
The largest quantities this year come from Agritorti, owned by the Torti family, with land in the Pavia plain.
There will be different varieties sold under the new name, all of which have yellow peel and flesh. The leading variety will be Queen Anne, which was introduced in Italy a few years ago and is performing rather well.
The product will be available in stores until stocks end, so it will depend on how sales go. "We strongly believe in this project and feel it will add value to the whole chain."
