Little competition
There is little competition for the Spanish oranges from other European countries. “The oranges from Greece don’t play a part in our trade,” says the expert “and Italian oranges are barely present.”
Transport problems
According to the trader from Hamburg there aren’t large differences in quality between the different production countries. “The difference is the transport, the Spanish oranges arrive here two days faster. That influences the freshness of the produce.” This is a problem for the other producing countries, explains the expert.
